MOSAIC WORKSHOPS IN EDINBURGH. OCTOBER 1, 2017
This is a mini post to let you know that I am one of a number of mosaic artists who will be leading mosaic workshops at the British Association for Modern Mosaic forum at the Edinburgh College of Art, UK, on October 1, 2017. My mosaic mesh method workshop will cover all you need to know about my favourite mosaic making method – a veritable A-Z of this highly versatile, easily adaptable and totally transportable direct method. Tickets available via Eventbrite.
There are other fantastic mosaic workshops to choose from at the Forum too:
Emma Biggs MOSAIC ARTISTS’ TUTORIALS AND CRITIQUE
Participants will send images in advance, and bring a completed piece to the workshop. Emma will look at interesting international work that seems to relate to that of the participants and discuss potential new directions to explore. The session will be constructive, but participants must be willing to talk publicly about aims and intentions.
Joanna Kessel and Tamara Froud COLOUR – IT’S A MATERIAL THING
Mosaic offers a unique opportunity to work with ‘tangible colour’. Tamara and Joanna will co-tutor this experimental workshop, encouraging participants to explore colour and the effects created through material and textural qualities.
Lillian Sizemore GEOMETRY FOR MOSAIC ARTISTS
In this design course for mosaic artists, participants are guided to construct hand-drawn patterns, including versions of the lotus. The aim is confidence and accuracy, and to understand geometry as a symbolic language.
A preview of the delights in store:
Dugald MacInnes’ and Marian Shapiro’s classes are now fully booked.
Tickets for the all day workshops including all materials cost £90 and are available through Eventbrite. For more information about the two-day mosaic forum, please go to the BAMM website.
