Weekly classes

Wednesdays, 6pm – 9pm, starting September 5, 2018 and running for 8 weeks until Wednesday, October 24, 2018.

Out of the Blue Abbeymount, 2 Easter Road, Edinburgh EH7 5AN

Learn new mosaic skills and refine your existing ones with this eight-week course which will take you through two key mosaic making methods giving you the flexibility and skills to create a range of indoor and outdoor mosaic projects from plaques to pots, mirrors to mandalas.

The course will cover two essential methods: one on mesh and the other using tile adhesive. Participants will start by learning cutting, laying and sticking techniques before making their own mosaic on mesh – a versatile method suitable for any size or shape of mosaic. Students will be using ceramic and vitreous glass tiles with the option of either following their own designs or working with pre-prepared patterns.  At the end of the first six weeks students will have completed a mosaic measuring approx. 25cm x 25cm and will have all the skills needed for further projects including fixing and grouting.

In the final two sessions we will explore mosaic making with found and recycled objects such as shells, pebbles and broken pottery. Tools, equipment and all materials you will need such as ceramic, vitreous glass, pebbles, and broken crockery are included in the price of the course.

No previous experience necessary. Maximum class size: 8.

Cost: £220.

Contact and bookings: Helen Miles, helenmilesmosaics@gmail.com or mobile 07719 415218.

Payment by bank transfer or cheque must be made in full at least one week before the course begins and is non-refundable if you pull out of the course unless I am able to fill your place. However, if you miss a class during the course, a short one-to-one catch up session can be arranged.

Please note: Due to studio rental costs, a minimum number of three people is required to run the course. In the event that the course is cancelled or postponed, you will receive a full refund.
