Roman mosaic copies

Qasr Libya fish mosaic copy
Qasr Libya fish mosaic. This is not a faithful tessera-by-tessera copy of one of the early Christian church panels from Qasr Libya but the design has not been altered and it keeps to the original colour scheme. @Helen Miles Mosaics

These two mosaics are examples of Roman mosaic copies. One is of a fish panel taken from the collection of Byzantine mosaics now in Qasr Libya and the other is of a mouse and walnut and is a detail from the famous ‘Unswept Floor‘ mosaic now in the Vatican Museums. They are not faithful, piece by piece copies, but keep to the design and colour scheme of the original works.
